Bill Maher compares dining with Donald Trump to dating Taylor Swift

Television host Bill Maher addressed a recent social media rant by President Donald Trump during his Friday night HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher, comparing dining with the president to dating singer Taylor Swift. The New York Post, Variety, and Deadline reported that Maher responded to the message following a White House dinner the two shared earlier in the month. [1][2][4][7][9]

The New York Post and The Hollywood Reporter reported that Trump's social media post ran to 1,318 words, calling Maher a total loser. Maher said on his show that eating with Trump is like dating Taylor Swift, explaining that it is fun at the time but leads to public criticism later. The New York Post also reported Maher saying that Trump went off on him like Kelly Clarkson in a toy store. [1][6]

Variety and Deadline reported that Maher viewed the length of the rant as notable, with Deadline quoting Maher calling the extended post kind of a flex. Variety added that Maher discussed the tirade after opening his show with a sit-down interview with Republican Senator Ted Cruz and a panel discussion featuring Jim VandeHei. [4][7]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Donald Trump posted the 1,300-word statement on Truth Social targeting Maher after hosting the television host for a White House dinner in October 2026. The post was Trump's longest ever on the platform and called Maher a total loser, a coward, and a pothead. [15]
