The crash left multiple passengers injured, Euronews and CBS News reported. CBS News cited broadcaster TVE stating that two high speed trains traveling in the same direction collided when one ran into the rear of the other, forcing two train cars off the track. Esther Padilla, a spokeswoman for the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha, told local media that at least 10 people had died and warned that the number of casualties could rise, France 24 and DW reported. Regional authorities confirmed the death toll to Spanish news outlets including the EFE news agency, CMM, and El Pais, according to DW and France 24. [3][4]

Following the collision, rail service was suspended on the high speed line connecting Madrid, Ciudad Real, Seville, and the broader Andalusia region. Euronews, CBS News, DW, and France 24 all confirmed the transport disruption across central and southern Spain. [1][2][3][4]
