Voters in the battleground states of Michigan and Pennsylvania have expressed differing views on the upcoming midterm elections amid rising gas prices and conflict in Iran, Fox News reported. In Port Huron, Michigan, supporters of President Donald Trump said they remain committed to voting Republican and view high prices at the pump as temporary sacrifices. Meanwhile, voters in Pennsylvania told Fox News Digital that they plan to vote Democratic to rein in the Trump administration, despite some stating they do not fully trust the Democratic Party. [1][3]

President Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he is deciding whether to make a deal with Iran or finish it off, CNBC reported. Iran said that indirect negotiations with the United States are ongoing but ruled out yielding to demands, according to CBS News. CBS News also reported that senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan traveled to Iran on Monday to conduct discussions aimed at de-escalating the crisis in the Middle East. [2][4][7]

The conflict has created global economic disruptions. A worldwide fuel crisis resulted from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on energy infrastructure in Iran and Persian Gulf nations, which raised global oil prices and caused fuel shortages. CBS News reported that President Trump's stock holdings in U.S. oil and gas companies have gained millions of dollars during the war. [5][6][9]

The developments come shortly before the 2026 United States midterm elections on November 3, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Voters across battleground states continue to monitor economic concerns, including rising prices and fuel costs, ahead of election day. [1][3][13][14]
