US President Donald Trump gave a cryptic answer on Sunday regarding the potential 2028 presidential race, according to the Washington Examiner. Trump suggested he considers someone other than the top polling candidates to be the main threat to Republicans keeping the White House in the next election cycle. Speaking to a local Fox affiliate in Port Huron, Michigan, he made the comments prior to attending a campaign rally for downballot Republicans. [1]

Meanwhile, former US President Barack Obama campaigned for Democrats in Ohio on Saturday ahead of the midterm elections, as reported by BBC News and France 24. Obama targeted the Trump administration over high consumer costs, Iran, and economic decisions, describing the upcoming vote as a critical opportunity to rein in the administration. Al Jazeera and the BBC both noted that Obama sharply criticised Trump's policies while rallying Democratic support. [2][3][5][6]

Trump countered Democratic attacks during a separate campaign appearance. BBC News reported that Trump spoke at a rally in Georgia, where he praised his administration's tariff and immigration policies to supporters. [3]

The political activity comes as both parties prepare for the nationwide midterm elections scheduled for November 3. Trump is currently serving as the 47th president of the United States. [3][9][10][11]
