Political leaders campaign heavily as US midterm elections approach

Political leaders from both major parties are campaigning in battleground states ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Fox News and BBC News report that President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama are making speeches to support their parties candidates. Fox News reports that Trump has recently held rallies in Florida, Georgia, and Michigan, while Obama spoke to crowds in Ohio on Saturday. [1][3][6]

During his appearance in Ohio, Obama criticized the Trump administration regarding high consumer prices and the Iran war, according to BBC News and Al Jazeera. BBC News reports that Obama described the upcoming election as the last best chance to rein in the administration. South China Morning Post and Al Jazeera reported that Obama also strongly criticized Trump for what he called cruelty and bad decisions. [2][3][5][6]

At a separate rally in Georgia, Trump defended his record and told supporters that the nation is in a golden age, according to BBC News. Fox News reports that Trump has also traveled to Texas, Oklahoma, and Ohio, with Vice President JD Vance also campaigning across the country. As FTMQ News reported earlier, former Vice President Kamala Harris has also joined Democratic campaign efforts in states including New Hampshire. [1][3][11]

Trump served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 and is currently the 47th president. The upcoming midterm elections on November 3 will decide control of the United States Congress. [3][8]
