The United States Department of the Interior filed a court notice stating that the East Potomac Golf Course in Washington will close on Nov. 15 as planned, UPI, The New York Times, and the Golf Channel report. Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward signed the notice filed on Wednesday, according to UPI. [1][4][5][7]

President Donald Trump plans to renovate the course, and workers have already removed more than 400 trees in the park, UPI reports. The New York Times reports that the government notice confirmed it would meet a Nov. 15 deadline set by President Trump to close East Potomac Park and build a championship golf course. [1][4][5]

The court filing follows an order issued on Oct. 19 by United States District Judge Ana Reyes, who required the administration to give advance notice of any planned changes to the park, UPI reports. On Tuesday, President Trump criticized the order on Truth Social, according to UPI. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Judge Reyes previously extended an order blocking tree removal at the site, citing statements made by Donald Trump regarding his plans for the public course. The historic public golf course originally opened in 1921. [11]
