President Donald Trump stated that renovation work on the East Potomac Golf Links course in Washington, D.C., would begin immediately. The Washington Examiner reported that his order stands in opposition to a legal ban issued by United States District Judge Ana Reyes. [1]
According to the Washington Examiner, Judge Reyes, who was appointed by President Joe Biden, recently extended a ban on removing trees at the site until October 26. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Judge Reyes issued a temporary order to pause tree removal after the National Park Service removed approximately 500 trees from the property. [1][4]
The Interior Department collaborated with golf architect Tom Fazio on a design plan to redevelop the historic public course, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Renovations were previously scheduled to begin on November 15, 2026, and to last 15 months. [3]
East Potomac Golf Links originally opened in 1921 and is the busiest golf course in Washington, D.C. Trump has long maintained a relationship with the sport of golf, acquiring and constructing courses through the Trump Organization since 1999. [2][4]
