A federal judge extended a court order that stops tree removal from a public golf course in Washington, DC, while adding new notice rules for major changes at the site. CNN and the Wall Street Journal both reported the judicial decision involving President Donald Trump's plans to renovate the venue. As FTMQ News reported earlier, US District Judge Ana Reyes previously placed a ban on tree removal at the grounds. [1][8][13]

The new 70-page ruling by Judge Reyes cited public statements made by President Trump regarding his intentions for the East Potomac Golf Course, CNN reported. CNN also reported that the dispute escalated recently after the administration cut down more than 400 trees on the property. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the National Park Service had previously removed roughly 500 trees from the location. The site is a historic public golf course in Washington that originally opened in 1921. [13]

The court decision requires the administration to give advance notice before carrying out any further major alterations to the golf course grounds, according to CNN. Additional reporting by The Washington Post, The New York Times, and AP News confirmed that the court imposed limits on further changes at the public park. [1][2][3]
