The Republic of Ireland national football team drew one all with Israel in the UEFA Nations League on October 4. Sky Sports, the Irish Times, and the Football Association of Ireland all reported that the match took place behind closed doors in Serbia. Sky Sports and Yahoo Sports both described the match as an ill tempered fixture. [1][3][7][9][10]

Sky Sports, RTÉ, and the Irish Times reported that Troy Parrott scored a penalty for the Republic of Ireland. Yahoo Sports noted that Heimir Hallgrimsson manages the Irish side, which had previously won three nil in the reverse fixture against Israel. RTÉ reported that Caoimhin Kelleher captained the team. [1][3][7][8]

Before the match began, Irish players again wore black armbands and refused to shake hands with the Israeli team, according to Yahoo Sports and Al Jazeera. The refusal of handshakes repeated actions taken during their previous meeting. [1][4][5]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the match followed a pre match news conference on Saturday that was cut short. Israeli journalists questioned manager Heimir Hallgrimsson regarding a Flydubai flight incident and accusations of racial abuse, which the Football Association of Ireland rejected. [16][17]
