Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the development team did not alter the core story of the remake trilogy in response to fan reactions. In an interview with Edge magazine, Hamaguchi explained that avoiding turning the remake into a personal fan project was essential during development, as reported by Kotaku, GamesReviews.com, and OtakuKart. GamingBolt and frvr.com also reported that Hamaguchi described avoiding a personal fan project as a difficult task. [1][6][7][8][9]
Hamaguchi also revealed that he fought to secure a physical disc release for the game despite industry trends toward digital distribution. Eurogamer, GamesRadar, and IGN reported that Hamaguchi pressed publisher Square Enix for physical media because of his personal attachment to physical copies. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Hamaguchi discussed his efforts during an interview with Radio Times. [2][4][5][13]
According to GamesRadar, Hamaguchi maintained that making every entry in the trilogy a complete game was non-negotiable for the team. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix, scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. It is the final installment in the trilogy remaking the 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII and follows Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. [3][10]
