President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend a rally in Syracuse on Friday alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman, according to the New York Post. Trump is expected to criticize New York Governor Kathy Hochul over the sanctuary status of the state following recent violent events in the region. Syracuse police have prepared road closures and parking restrictions in the city for the presidential visit, Syracuse.com reported. [1][5]

Federal immigration agents shot and injured a 28-year-old man in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, according to Fox News, France 24, and the South China Morning Post. France 24 reported that the man was shot while in a vehicle with his five-year-old child. The New York Police Department confirmed that its officers were not involved in the shooting and that the wounded man was hospitalized. [4][6][7]

The incident triggered protests across New York City, Fox News reported. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani demanded that President Trump end Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the state and release the injured man. Fox News and France 24 reported that Mamdani spoke with Trump for approximately two hours late Thursday night following the shooting. [2][3][6][7]

The rally also follows the violent robbery of an off-duty New York Police Department detective in the Bronx, the New York Post reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, two suspects were arrested in Massachusetts by United States Marshals on attempted murder charges for slashing the off-duty officer. The New York Post reported that the suspects are undocumented immigrants. [1][10]
