The Witcher video game franchise is preparing to replace Geralt of Rivia as its primary protagonist, Screen Rant reported. The developer will introduce Ciri as the new central figure in The Witcher 4, which is scheduled for release in 2028. [1]

Before the main storyline shifts to Ciri, players will be able to access the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion. Screen Rant reported that this downloadable content will serve as Geralt's swan song before the narrative focus changes. [1]

Fans can currently play a newly released remastered edition of The Witcher 3 to experience Geralt's story again. According to Screen Rant, the choice to move away from Geralt has generated mixed reactions among longtime fans of the franchise. [1]

Geralt of Rivia was created by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski as a magically enhanced monster hunter with supernatural abilities. The character serves as the main protagonist across Sapkowski's original short stories and fantasy novels. [1][3]
