Number 17 Texas defeated seventh-ranked Ole Miss 34-27 in Austin on Saturday after surrendering a 21-point lead. Fox News, CBS Sports and the Daily Mail all reported on the upset victory. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Texas led 24-3 at halftime before holding off a second-half comeback attempt. [1][3][4][5][14]

Daily Mail reported that Texas quarterback Arch Manning joked with ESPN reporter Holly Rowe after the game, inviting her to cover more of their games because the team improved to 5-2 with her present. CBS Sports, Fox News and New York Post confirmed the victory for Texas, with ESPN reporting that head coach Steve Sarkisian praised Manning following the game. [1][4][5][11]

Manning plays quarterback for the Texas Longhorns and is a member of the Manning football family. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended Isidore Newman School and earned national freshman honors in 2019. [12][13]

The weekend produced several major upsets across college football. Fox News and CBS Sports both reported that second-ranked BYU fell to UCF in double overtime, while eighth-ranked Texas Tech lost to unranked Cincinnati. CBS Sports added that seventh-ranked Ole Miss and 15th-ranked Iowa were also upset. [1][3]

CBS Sports reported that heading into the night slate, number one Miami, ninth-ranked UCLA and tenth-ranked Utah were the only undefeated teams remaining. The outlet noted that the last time three or fewer undefeated major college football teams remained through October 24 was in 1977. [3]
