State Senator Scott Wiener leads San Francisco supervisor Connie Chan in the race to succeed retiring representative Nancy Pelosi, according to a poll reported by the New York Post. The University of Southern California survey of 454 likely voters, conducted from October 16 to October 19, shows Scott Wiener with 47 percent support compared to 41 percent for Connie Chan. Nine percent of voters remain undecided. [1]
The six percentage point lead for Scott Wiener remains within the margin of error for the poll, leaving the race tight two weeks before Election Day, the New York Post reported. Nancy Pelosi has actively campaigned for Connie Chan after publicly endorsing her for the congressional seat. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Connie Chan is competing against Scott Wiener to represent California's 11th congressional district. [1][7]
Nancy Pelosi has served in the House of Representatives representing San Francisco since 1987, as FTMQ News reported earlier. She previously served as House Minority Whip, Minority Leader, and Speaker of the House, where she helped pass major legislation including the Affordable Care Act and the American Rescue Plan. [6][7]
Separately, the Guardian reported that the office of Nancy Pelosi received a suspicious envelope containing white powder on Wednesday. The incident is part of a series of mailings sent to the offices of more than three dozen members of Congress ahead of the midterm elections. [2][3]
