United States technology company Crusoe announced a partnership with Paraguayan developer Araico on October 22 to build artificial intelligence data centers, UPI reported. The facilities will be powered by the Itaipu hydroelectric dam on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. [1][2]

According to UPI, United States officials stated that the initiative could turn out to be one of the largest private investments in the history of Paraguay. [1]

The agreement followed a visit to Paraguay by United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau from Monday to Wednesday, UPI reported. During his trip, Landau met with Paraguayan President Santiago Pena and Foreign Minister Ruben Ramirez Lezcano. [1]

The Itaipu Dam is situated on the Parana River and is the third largest hydroelectric dam in the world based on produced energy. [2]
