Saturday Night Live opened its October 3 episode with a comedy sketch parodying Republican leaders as they attempt to boost voter turnout one month before the midterm elections. Rolling Stone, The Wrap, Deadline, and Variety all reported that the television show mocked political figures as party strategists tried to record a campaign message. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the parody highlighted Republican efforts to appeal to voters ahead of the vote. [1][3][4][5][9][10]

In the sketch, cast members Andrew Dismukes and Ashley Padilla played Republican strategists seeking a spokesperson to connect with voters, according to Rolling Stone and Variety. Marcello Hernandez portrayed Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivering a message in Spanish, while Colin Jost appeared as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and James Austin Johnson played President Donald Trump, as reported by The Wrap and Variety. The comedy scene also featured portrayals of Vice President JD Vance played by Jeremy Culhane and Senator Mitch McConnell, Rolling Stone and Variety reported. The Wrap added that the scene included jokes about campaign promises, while Deadline noted the broadcast focused on political material with the midterms just one month away. [1][3][4][5]
