Leaked documents suggest that Eugene Tenenbaum, one of Roman Abramovich's closest associates, misled a UK court during a legal dispute over Siberian oil fields, BBC News reported. The court case took place in 2008 and was ultimately won by Abramovich. [1]

According to BBC News, Tenenbaum was a director at Chelsea Football Club and helped manage Abramovich's wealth. He gave evidence during court proceedings brought against Abramovich by a company owned by another Russian billionaire. [1]

The legal action claimed that the oil fields had been stolen from the billionaire owner and other investors. The leaked documents now suggest there was a premeditated attempt by Abramovich to lower the value of the investors' stake in the Siberian venture, BBC News reported. [1]

Separate background records show that Mikhail Khodorkovsky is an exiled Russian businessman and opposition activist residing in London. In 2003, Khodorkovsky was considered the wealthiest man in Russia with an estimated fortune of 15 billion dollars, having previously served as chairman of Bank Menatep. [2]
