A 44-year-old woman from El Salvador was rescued after spending 20 hours in the Ionian Sea, Euronews reported. The Greek coastguard said the incident occurred on Friday morning while the cruise ship Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas was sailing southwest of the Greek island of Zakynthos. [1][4]

The woman reportedly jumped from the cruise ship because she wanted to disembark, according to a coastguard spokesperson cited by AFP and Euronews. Search and rescue operations were launched after she went overboard. [1]

The cargo ship MSC Rossella III discovered and rescued the woman while participating in the search efforts, Euronews reported. Greek City Times also reported that the woman was saved following nearly 20 hours in the water. [1][4]
