More than 100 Orthodox Jewish families are preparing to join 60 families who have already left New York for a newly established community in Glades County, Florida, the New York Post reported. The families cited political dysfunction and rising antisemitism in New York as the primary reasons for their relocation. [1]
The families are relocating to Lakefront Estates, a 550-acre development valued at 300 million dollars that officially opened in October, according to the New York Post. However, far-right influencers have targeted the location and shouted hostile rhetoric outside the homes of residents. [1]
Orthodox Judaism represents the traditionalist branches of contemporary Judaism, which view the Torah as literally revealed by God on Mount Sinai. In the United States, antisemitism encompasses incidents of hatred, hostility, hate crimes, and discrimination against individuals who identify as Jewish religiously or culturally. [2][3]
Florida features low-lying plains and a warm climate, with an economy that recorded a gross domestic product of 1.83 trillion dollars in 2025. The state continues to see new residential movements across its rural and suburban regions. [4]
