Schools and colleges in England will be required to treat antisemitism as a distinct category of harm under new recommendations, the BBC reported on Tuesday. Rather than handling anti-Jewish hatred through standard anti-bullying or anti-racism policies, institutions will handle it as a specific safeguarding risk. [1]

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations contained in the independent review, according to the BBC. The review was conducted by Sir David Bell, the former head of Ofsted. [1]

The report calls for dedicated training for teaching staff along with improved education concerning antisemitism and modern Jewish life. It also recommends more consistent recording of incidents and clearer guidance on political issues in schools, the BBC reported. [1]

Economic antisemitism involves stereotypes or assertions regarding the economic behavior, status, or occupations of Jewish people. These prejudice-based allegations have historically influenced targeted governmental policies and regulations. [2]
