A new German feature film brings the historical crimes committed in Block 10 at Auschwitz to cinemas, Euronews reported. The film was produced by Alice Brauner, a Berlin-based producer who spoke about the emotional production process and her anger regarding the events. Block 10 was a sealed building in Auschwitz where hundreds of Jewish women and girls were held as test subjects starting in early 1943. [1][2][3]
According to Euronews, the building contained no daylight, and the victims were subjected to medical experiments designed to test mass sterilization techniques. Gynaecologist Carl Clauberg, played by actor Axel Prahl, carried out the procedures on behalf of SS leader Heinrich Himmler. Many of the women locked inside the building did not survive the excruciating procedures. [1]
The medical experiments carried out in the sealed Auschwitz building remained largely unknown to the general public for a long time. The film aims to document the historical crimes that took place against the women confined to the facility. [1]
