Vice President JD Vance blamed his party's midterm election defeat squarely on the Iran war, according to BBC News. BBC News and Fox News both report that Vance made the statement following Republican losses. BBC News reported that Vance posted a 600-word statement on X acknowledging that voters from the 2024 election deserted Republicans in the midterms. Vance wrote that the reason for the defeat was the war, BBC News reported. [4][7]

The Daily Mail and BBC News both report that Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress in the midterm elections. Following the results, the Daily Mail reported that Donald Trump called into Fox News late on Tuesday night and praised the opposition. The Daily Mail also reported that Trump told the New York Times he was willing to accept the election result and would prefer to cut deals with Democrats rather than vetoing their bills. [1][4]

Vance laid out four tasks to bring disaffected Republican voters back to the party, according to Fox News. Fox News also reported that sources said Vance is courting disgruntled Trump voters to form a new right alliance. James David Vance serves as the 50th vice president of the United States. Susan L. Wiles has served as the 32nd White House chief of staff since January 2025, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [7][8][9][13]
