Berlin is hosting a two-day government conference focused on enhancing the digital infrastructure of Germany and exploring artificial intelligence, DW reported on November 2, 2026. The summit comes as defense ministers from Germany and the United Kingdom prepare to meet in order to discuss expanding the role of artificial intelligence in military cooperation. [1]

The government-run digital conference is set to examine both the potential uses and the dangers associated with artificial intelligence, according to DW. The event forms part of broader efforts to develop national technology infrastructure while coordinating military applications with international partners. [1]

The Berlin gathering follows previous international discussions on technology governance. The Artificial Intelligence Action Summit was held at the Grand Palais in Paris in February 2025, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. That meeting built on earlier international gatherings, including the 2023 AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park in the United Kingdom and the 2024 AI Seoul Summit in South Korea. [8]

The digital summit also follows public demonstrations in the German capital. As FTMQ News reported earlier, thousands of demonstrators gathered at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to demand increased funding for education and to oppose proposed military conscription reforms under the government of Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
