Three American astronauts on board the International Space Station cast their votes in the United States midterm elections. Euronews and Space both reported that the crew members submitted their ballots using electronic links from the orbital laboratory. Around Prague also reported that three NASA astronauts participated in the election from orbit. [1][6][9]

NASA astronaut Anil Menon announced that he voted alongside colleagues Luke Delaney and Jessica Watkins, Euronews reported. CBS News also reported that Menon cast his ballot from the space station. According to Euronews, Menon stated that the process used a secure electronic system to send the ballots to election officials on Earth. [1][10]

In a post on X, Menon confirmed that voting from space is possible and shared a 29 second video, Euronews reported. The video showed an sticker reading I voted and provided a tour of his private cabin, which he called his polling station. The New York Times also reported on the video of the astronaut voting from orbit. [1][2]

The International Space Station operates in low Earth orbit as a scientific research facility run by five international space agencies, including NASA. It has maintained a continuous human presence in space since November 2000. [11]
