Russian aerial bomb attacks killed at least 24 people in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine on Monday, Euronews and Al Jazeera both reported. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said five other people were injured in the strikes. The attack hit the village of Komyshuvakha. [1][2]
The strikes destroyed a school that was being used as a humanitarian centre, according to Al Jazeera. The regional governor, Ivan Fedorov, stated that Russian forces fired at least nine KAB-3000 bombs throughout the day, Euronews reported. Al Jazeera noted that a repeat strike hit a shelter where people had gathered following an initial air strike. [1][2]
Ukraine's State Emergency Service stated that the dead included two rescue workers and four police officers, according to Euronews. President Zelenskyy stated that the attack showed Russia was sending an opposite signal to peace and was counting on more killings, Euronews and Al Jazeera both reported. [1][2]
