Georgia man sentenced to 10 years for hiding mother's death

Jason Christopher Campbell, 35, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday after being convicted of concealing his mother's death. The New York Post, Yahoo, and Morning Honey all reported that Campbell falsely told a 911 dispatcher that his missing mother, Marie Campbell, had been abducted by aliens from their house. [1][4][5]

The New York Post reported that the incident occurred at Marie Campbell's home in Homer, Georgia, located about 75 miles northeast of Atlanta, in January 2025. The 65-year-old mother lived with her son and was reported missing on January 6. Her car, purse, identification, and phone were left behind, prompting family members and neighbors to search the area. Police officers subsequently searched the backyard of the property. The New York Post and Morning Honey reported that officers discovered her charred remains in the backyard, while Yahoo added that her remains were located underneath a burned mattress. [1][4][5]
