Irish security services are preparing for a potential escalation in bomb threats and disruptive incidents before two major political summits take place in Dublin next week. The Irish Examiner reported that 55 European leaders are scheduled to attend the gatherings. The newspaper stated that the escalation could include planting actual suspect devices or hoax devices to ensure those behind the attacks are taken seriously by the Irish public. [1]

Security precautions are already underway across Dublin ahead of the arrival of European Union Heads of State on Friday. The Irish Examiner reported that Gardaí and the Defence Forces are conducting technical and physical surveillance. Gardaí also surrounded the RTÉ Studios in Dublin after a bomb threat was made. [1]

The latest security measures follow a series of recent disruptions across Europe. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Irish media organisations, including public broadcaster RTÉ, were evacuated on Friday after receiving bomb threats. An RTÉ reporter stated that the same group claimed responsibility for the media threats and earlier scares that forced emergency landings for four European passenger flights. [14]
