Irish media organizations including public broadcaster RTÉ, the Irish Independent, and Newstalk were evacuated on Friday following bomb threats, according to reports from the Irish Independent, the Irish Examiner, and the Irish Times. The Irish Independent reported that one threat warned a bomb would detonate on its site within 45 minutes, while the Irish Times noted that the security alerts forced some broadcasts off the air. [1][2][3][5]

Speaking on RTÉ's The Late Late Show on Friday night, Taoiseach Micheál Martin vowed that authorities will hunt down those responsible for the threats against media outlets, independent.ie reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Mr Martin stated that recent hybrid attacks targeting Irish infrastructure were coordinated. He added during the television appearance that cyber attacks currently pose the single greatest threat to the country, according to the Irish Examiner. [1][2][3][8]

The Irish Examiner and the Irish Times both reported that Mr Martin acknowledged a general view linking the recent escalation of hybrid attacks to a Russian connection. However, he stated it is too early to determine definitively who carried out Friday's threats against media outlets. According to the Irish Times, Mr Martin highlighted a broader pattern of disruption throughout the week, which included threats to flights, media groups, and a cyber attack on supermarket refrigeration systems. [2][3]

The Irish Independent is a daily newspaper and online publication owned by Mediahuis Ireland, a subsidiary of Mediahuis. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the evacuations occurred just days before Dublin is scheduled to host a high level European Union meeting, following earlier incidents where bomb threats forced four passenger aircraft across Europe to make emergency landings.
