Several passenger planes travelling across Europe were affected by suspected bomb threats on Tuesday. According to reports from the Irish Examiner, the Irish Times, and the Irish Independent, four aircraft were forced to make precautionary or emergency landings across the continent. A Ryanair flight travelling from Dublin landed safely in Rome, where it was searched by authorities. [1][2][3][4]

The Irish Independent and the Irish Mirror reported that the Italian Air Force escorted the Dublin flight into Rome. Meanwhile, Polish officials stated that two flights bound for Warsaw were targeted by bomb scares. The Irish Examiner reported that these included a Scandinavian Airlines service from Copenhagen and a LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow. [1][2][3][5]

According to the Irish Times, authorities diverted the LOT flight from London to Modlin airport near Warsaw. Modlin airport was temporarily closed while the plane was inspected, but it reopened after officials found no explosive device. The Irish Examiner confirmed that no explosives were found on planes searched in Poland and Spain. [1][4]

The Irish Times added that additional flights from London and Israel were diverted to airports in Bulgaria. A bomb threat is defined as a verbal or written threat to detonate an explosive device to cause damage, injury, or fear. Dublin Live and RSVP Live reported that up to six planes across Europe were targeted in total during the wave of scares. [4][6][7][8]

The wave of incidents follows a similar scare on Monday, as FTMQ News reported earlier, when a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia diverted to Budapest after receiving a bomb threat. In that incident, security checks were completed at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport and nothing suspicious was found. [4][13]
