The funding is expected to accelerate the delivery of the new stations at Blarney and Water Rock in Cork, as well as a third station in County Kildare, by at least two years. The Cork stations are expected to be developed by 2029, subject to planning approval. The Irish Examiner reported that the investment is intended to support major housing developments in the Cork area. [1]
Blarney is located approximately eight kilometres from Cork City and is famous for the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. Water Rock is a townland situated near Midleton in East Cork.
