Representative Ilhan Omar and Twitch commentator Hasan Piker cohosted a campaign event in Minnesota on Monday night. Fox News reported that Piker called Republicans "terrorists" during the gathering, while Omar called them the "pedophile protection party." Fox News and the New York Post both reported that Minnesota state lawmaker Omar Fateh hosted the stage event, which featured a question and answer session. [1][3]

The event caused friction within the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party ahead of the elections, 5 Eyewitness News reported. According to Fox News, the pair used the platform to attack President Donald Trump's administration and criticize Democrats who work alongside him. The New York Post reported that during a green-room livestream before taking the stage, Omar joked with Piker that media focus remains on her because they "just look really good on their screens." [1][3][9]

Piker is an American political commentator who streams on Twitch, where his broadcasts combine international news, current affairs commentary, and political debates. Omar has served as the U.S. representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2019, covering Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Piker's appearance in Minneapolis had drawn advance backlash and split local Democrats shortly before Election Day. [10][11][15]

Fox News reported that Omar is on track for a fifth term in Congress. CBS News and Fox News both confirmed that Piker spoke alongside Omar and state Senator Omar Fateh during the Minneapolis visit. [1][8]
