Hughes Emphatic and European Runners Win Big at Breeders Cup Friday

Hughes and Emphatic established themselves as early favorites for the 2027 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks respectively after victorious performances on Friday at Keeneland, UPI reported. According to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Bob Baffert secured his seventh Breeders Cup Juvenile victory with Hughes. European-based young horses dominated their American rivals in all three races held over the turf track, UPI reported. According to the Irish Times, trainer Aidan O'Brien achieved a double on Friday night to bring his record tally to 23 wins at the meeting, securing victories with Sun Goddess in the Juvenile Turf Fillies and Haffner in the Juvenile Turf for colts. The Irish Times noted that O'Brien defeated his son Joseph in both contests, as Joseph settled for runner-up positions.
