New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated in an interview with Politico that Democrats could use congressional hearings and subpoenas to slow President Donald Trump's agenda if the party wins back Congress, Fox News reported. Hochul said retaking both the House of Representatives and the Senate would allow Democrats to halt alleged administration corruption. [1]

The remarks come as Democrats prepare for the upcoming midterm elections, where all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats are being contested. Fox News Power Rankings indicated that control of the Senate remains a toss-up, with Democrats focusing on seats in states won by Trump. [1][6][10]

In Ohio, Democratic candidates in competitive House races are weighing whether to focus on impeaching Trump, according to the Washington Examiner. Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner reported that some strategists advise candidates to focus on everyday issues like the cost of living rather than relying solely on anti-Trump messaging. [3][7]

Hochul, who became the 57th governor of New York in 2021, is the state's first female governor. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Hochul previously enrolled New York into a federal tax credit scholarship program created under the Trump administration despite opposition from teachers unions. [9][13]
