The President of the High Court has instructed the legal teams for Michael Flatley and his former solicitor to talk after the dancer requested a hearing date, the Irish Examiner reported. Mr Justice David Barniville said the focus must remain on court directions and that the hearing date application came out of the blue. The opposing side noted that there had been no advance on mediation. [1]

The legal battle involves unpaid legal fees. According to the Irish Examiner, Flatley previously stated in an affidavit that it was not correct that invoices for legal fees had not been paid to his former solicitors, Maxwell Mooney and Company. [1]

Flatley is an American and Irish former professional performer and choreographer who created shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. High Court proceedings in the dispute were previously adjourned for two weeks following the death of his wife, Niamh O Brien, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [2][7]

The High Court president has now instructed both parties to put their heads together on how to proceed with the legal case. [1]
