Irish police investigate after mans body discovered in Macroom

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the body of an adult man was discovered in Macroom, County Cork, on the morning of Friday, October 23, 2026. The Irish Examiner and the Irish Times both report that the body was found at approximately 9.30am. [1][2]

The Irish Examiner reported that emergency services were seen entering the grounds of Macroom Castle in the town centre. A local resident said he was unable to walk in the town park because officers sealed off the area. [1]

According to the Irish Times, the man has not been formally identified. The scene has been preserved for forensic examination, and the Irish Examiner and the Irish Times both report that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the course of the police investigation. [1][2]
