Solicitor Ammi Burke is seeking reinstatement to her position at law firm Arthur Cox following her dismissal without a formal disciplinary process in November 2019. The Irish Examiner and the Irish Times both reported that the Labour Court in Dublin heard arguments concerning the reasons for her dismissal. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Burke previously had an unfair dismissal claim rejected by the Workplace Relations Commission in April 2022 before bringing her appeal to the Labour Court. [1][2][6]
According to the Irish Times, Burke joined the law firm as a trainee in 2016 and qualified as a solicitor two years later. A key event that led to her eventual dismissal occurred in January 2019. The Irish Times reported that Arthur Cox defended its actions in court, while Burke rejected the assertions made by her former employer. [2]
Arthur Cox was established as a law practice at 5 St Stephen’s Green in Dublin after its founder qualified as a solicitor in 1915. The firm grew into a major corporate practice in Ireland. Burke stated that she has been unable to secure another job in her chosen profession since her dismissal in 2019, according to the Irish Times. [2][5]
The Irish Times reported that Burke is currently engaged in her third legal challenge to regain her position. The Labour Court is scheduled to resume hearing further details from Burke in early 2027. [2]
