Taoiseach Micheál Martin has stated that it is up to Ryan Tubridy if he wishes to seek election with Fianna Fáil, the Irish Examiner reported. Martin added that the 53 year old former broadcaster has the DNA and the interest to enter politics. Tubridy possesses family ties to Fianna Fáil on both sides, as the Andrews and Tubridy families have been heavily involved with the political party since its creation. [1]
The Irish Examiner reported that Tubridy spoke at a Fianna Fáil centenary event in Galway, where he stated that he was considering a move into politics. The Connacht Tribune reported that Tubridy dreams about reclaiming the Galway seat previously held by his grandfather, Sean Tubridy. [1]
Tubridy was born in Booterstown, Dublin, to Patrick Tubridy and Catherine Andrews. His family includes several figures involved in Irish public life. He previously presented a weekday show on Virgin Radio UK until December 2025 and launched a Sunday show on Times Radio in March 2026. [2][5]
