Former Paralympian Peter Ryan is preparing to run the Dublin Marathon using Meta AI Glasses, independent.ie and the Irish Independent reported. Ryan has 10 percent vision and described his view of the world as having a radius of one metre and a half. He said that the smart technology is assisting him to regain independence in both his daily life and athletic training. [1][6]

The Dublin Marathon takes place annually in October over a distance of 26.2 miles, according to Wikipedia. The event was first held in 1980 after being established by Noel Carroll and the Business Houses Athletic Association, Grokipedia noted. According to the Irish Times, a record 47,000 people entered the ballot for this year's race, which exceeds double the capacity of the event. [4][8][10]

Organisers are preparing for the 45th staging of the race, RTÉ reported. Neil Kennedy and Seán Ó Riain have taken over key roles in determining the route of the event. Their fathers, Billy Kennedy and Liam Ó Riain, were original members of the organising committee when the race began. [3]

The runner will rely on second generation smart glasses integrated with artificial intelligence. Meta released the Ray-Ban Meta glasses in 2023 following its initial smart glasses product launch in September 2021, according to Wikipedia. [1][6][7]
