A 32-year-old man on trial for a 2010 shooting in County Limerick confessed to new charges on Friday, October 16, the Irish Examiner reported. Kurt Ryan, of Moylish Crescent, Limerick, admitted to commission of a murder in association with a criminal organisation. He also admitted to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. [1]

The admission occurred on the eighth day of the cold case trial at the Central Criminal Court, according to the Irish Examiner. The court heard that 25-year-old Lee Slattery was killed on the grounds of Delmege House in May 2010. The court was told that Mr Slattery was wrongly singled out and that there was no basis for his killing. [1]

The dramatic development took place in the absence of the jury, the Irish Examiner reported. The jury panel in the trial consists of seven women and five men. [1]
