Dublin Airport has issued travel advice ahead of the upcoming bank holiday weekend, when nearly half a million travellers are expected to use the facility. Independent.ie and the Irish Independent both report that airport officials are urging passengers to arrive on time and to remain mindful of clocks changing on October 25. [1][3]
The busy weekend advice comes alongside other recent events at the airport. Theliberal.ie reported that 24 Romanian nationals with criminal records were deported from Dublin Airport to Bucharest on a chartered flight on Sunday under European Union Removal Orders. Garda National Immigration Bureau officers carried out the operation, which included Exclusion Orders preventing the individuals from returning to Ireland. [2]
In a separate incident on October 19, Dublin Live reported that an Air France flight travelling to Paris was forced to divert to Dublin Airport after a passenger became ill on board. [4]
Dublin Airport is operated by DAA and sits in Collinstown, seven kilometres north of Dublin. In 2025, more than 36.4 million passengers passed through the airport, making it the busiest year in its history and the 12th busiest airport in Europe. [5]
