Florida man arrested over online threats to Orthodox Jewish community

Authorities in Florida arrested 31 year old Jerry Sneed on Wednesday for allegedly making online threats to shoot up a newly opened Orthodox Jewish community, the New York Post reported. [1]

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the New York Post, Sneed posted social media photos displaying a firearm next to the location of Lakefront Estates in Glades County. He allegedly included threatening messages along with the images. [1]

Law enforcement charged Sneed with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting, according to the New York Post. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Lakefront Estates is a 300 million dollar development in Glades County, Florida, where 60 Orthodox Jewish families have already moved from New York due to concerns over rising antisemitism. Orthodox Judaism is a traditionalist branch of contemporary Judaism that regards the Torah as literally revealed by God on Mount Sinai. [2][5]
