Florida police have debunked a fake report that a 17-year-old student planned to carry out a shooting at a high school football game, the New York Post reported on October 24, 2026. Authorities stated that the false claim was planted by classmates who had previously beaten up the teenager after he stood up to bullies. [1]

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated the threat and determined it was completely non-credible, according to the New York Post. Deputies confirmed the claim was false after interviewing the teenage victim alongside his family. [1]

Authorities cited by the New York Post explained that the rumor was intentionally spread to make the victim look bad. Local news outlets Fox 35 Orlando and the Osceola County Gazette also reported on the sheriff office findings. [1]
