A fire damaged the headquarters of the Senatobia Police Department in Mississippi on Saturday morning, according to the New York Post. The blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. at the building, which is located 40 miles south of Memphis. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, and the police department stated that its operations and services remain uninterrupted. [1]
The department said in a statement on Saturday night that officials are taking the incident extremely seriously, the New York Post reported. The building has been under public scrutiny following the death of one-year-old Kohen Wiley. [1]
On June 14, 2026, African American toddler Kohen Kartier Wiley was fatally shot in Senatobia, Mississippi, while being held in the passenger seat of a sedan. Police officers were responding to a call at a Walmart when Sergeant Hunter Foster, a White police officer, fired four shots into the vehicle after stepping in front of it. Foster resigned following the incident, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [2][6]
Authorities determined that the shooting was a justified use of force, according to the New York Post. The Mississippi Attorney General's office cleared the officer of criminal wrongdoing and state authorities released body-worn camera footage of the event, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [1][6]
