Los Angeles Police Department officers shot a man who hit an officer with a metal bar in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, the New York Post reported. Central Division patrol officers responded to a radio report of a robbery near 4th Street and Omar Street at around 1:25 p.m. When officers arrived, they encountered an adult male holding a metal bar in one hand and a long tree branch in the other. [1]
According to the New York Post, the man refused repeated commands from the officers to drop his weapons. Police then fired less lethal foam rounds at the suspect, but the rounds had no effect. [1]
The incident follows previous international cases involving violence against police officers. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a minor carrying two knives was shot dead by an elite officer outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade on October 28 after attacking a guard. In another case, a police officer was hospitalised with a foot wound after being shot in Nottingham city centre on October 18, FTMQ News previously reported. [3][4]
