Gardaí are warning motorists to exercise extra vigilance while driving on the N72 Killorglin-Killarney Road near Beaufort, Radio Kerry reported on October 28, 2026. The warning comes after a temporary traffic control system malfunctioned at a section of roadworks. [1]

The location is currently operating under a stop-go traffic light system. However, lights facing in one direction are malfunctioning, which has resulted in vehicles from both directions entering the single open lane simultaneously, according to Radio Kerry. [1]

Gardaí stated that they are aware of the traffic issue on the N72. Radio Kerry reported that Kerry County Council has been notified to address the faulty equipment. [1]

The warning follows earlier safety alerts for motorists in the county. As FTMQ News reported earlier in October 2026, drivers in Kerry were also advised to exercise caution due to increased risks of road accidents during the annual deer rutting season, which runs from September to November. [4]
