Elon Musk has released a seven minute AI generated video segment of Homer's The Odyssey, which has faced online criticism and ridicule. According to Euronews, NME, and Variety, the clip was posted on X on Friday. The footage represents a partial fulfillment of a promise made earlier this year to produce a historically accurate, feature length film version of the ancient Greek poem. [1][2][6]

NME reported that the segment was created using the Grok Imagine AI tool in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. The project was initiated after Musk publicly criticized the casting choices in director Christopher Nolan's upcoming film adaptation of the same work. TechCrunch noted that the released video appears passable only if viewers are not searching for artistic depth or human emotion. [1][2][5]

Euronews and NME reported that online viewers swiftly dismissed the release, with many describing the video clip as garbage. Grok is a generative artificial intelligence model developed by SpaceXSI that was first launched in November 2023. [1][2][12]
