Federal immigration officials arrested a 45-year-old Guyanese man in Queens, New York, who is wanted for a 2015 murder in his home country, the New York Post reported. United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated in a press release on October 26, 2026, that Kanand Ojha was tracked down and arrested in Long Island City on September 8. [1]

According to the New York Post, Ojha allegedly murdered Nephi Noel in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, in 2015. He fled to the United States one week after the killing. The arrest was carried out by the United States Marshals Service New York and New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations. The New York Post reported that Ojha originally entered the United States through John F. Kennedy International Airport legally. His lawful status was subsequently revoked after officials discovered his outstanding arrest warrant. [1]
