An Cosán Community Special School in Dublin 7 has enforced a reduced timetable at short notice due to severe staff shortages, RTE reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, junior pupils will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays only, while senior pupils will attend from Wednesday to Friday. [1][3]

According to RTE, the school sent an email to parents at 3pm on Sunday afternoon to inform them of the change with immediate effect. The email stated that there are no longer sufficient staff members to safely operate the school. [1]

The school principal explained that they have been trying to recruit three teachers, three Special Needs Assistants, and replacements for two assistants on long term leave, RTE reported. Another four staff members are currently absent due to illness or injury. [1][3]
