President Donald Trump stated on Saturday night that the United States is not in that much of a hurry to sign a deal with Iran, the Washington Examiner reported. He added that diplomatic negotiations are going fine but characterized Iranian officials as not very reliable, according to rte.ie. The Jerusalem Post previously reported that Donald Trump said the United States was in no rush for a deal with Iran. [1][2][9]
The remarks come as President Donald Trump considers launching a new wave of military strikes against Iran following the upcoming midterm elections, the Washington Examiner and the New York Post both report. According to rte.ie, Donald Trump said the United States has knocked out much of the military in Iran, but it still has to take care of one or two targets, including a suspected nuclear site known as Pickaxe Mountain. [1][2][7]
Fox News reported that United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump has not yet made a choice on resuming military action. Fox News also reported that the administration warned Iran there will be consequences if it continues malign activities, while Marco Rubio raised energy security concerns at a G20 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Local media reported that the United States is set to rejoin indirect talks with Iran in Qatar, according to the New York Post. [3][5][7]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, United States Vice President JD Vance previously wrote to Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei to propose resuming comprehensive peace talks, including discussions on the nuclear program of Iran. The United States and Israel began the war against Iran at the end of February, according to rte.ie. [2][11]
