Collin Gosselin accuses mother Kate of abuse ahead of memoir release

Collin Gosselin accused his mother, Kate Gosselin, of repeated physical abuse during an interview that aired on Good Morning America on Monday. UPI, NewsNation, ABC News, TMZ, Parade Magazine, and Yahoo all reported on the allegations made by the 22-year-old. Gosselin stated that his family life portrayed on television was a facade. According to NewsNation, Gosselin claimed his mother dragged him and locked him in a basement. UPI reported that Gosselin described his entire life on television as a lie. The interview took place ahead of the release of his new memoir, titled In the Shadow of Eight, according to UPI and ABC News. [1][2][3][5]

Kate Gosselin and her family rose to fame on Jon and Kate Plus Eight, an American reality television series that followed former television personality Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin as they raised twins and sextuplets, Wikipedia notes. UPI reported that the TLC reality series originally aired from 2007 to 2009 before the couple divorced. [1][7]

The television show featured twins Cara and Mady alongside sextuplets Collin, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, and Joel, according to UPI. Following the divorce of Jon and Kate Gosselin in 2009, the television series was renamed, UPI reported. [1]
